The scenic Brisbane City is surrounded the Brisbane River, which provides a refreshing backdrop for the South Bank & Jan Powers Farmer’s Markets held weekly, restaurants within the CBD and South Bank precincts, GOMA, The Brisbane Museum & Science Centre, as well as a vast array of leisure activities.

An expansive range of activities exist, free for all to enjoy, such activities include; Southbank Parklands (be sure to bring along some swimwear!), Mt. Cootha Lookout Point, The Brisbane Museum, the Treasury Casino, and GOMA (Gallery of Modern Art). A mere hour away from Brisbane are a selection of the most swoon-worthy beaches in the world, such as; Sunshine Coast (Noosa, Mooloolaba) as well as Gold Coast (Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach). 

Located in Southern Queensland, Brisbane sits approximately half-way towards Australia’s north-eastern coastline. This central location makes Brisbane a great base from which to explore the exciting myriad of tourist attractions located throughout Queensland and Australia, including the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest to the North, the Australian Outback to the West, and Byron Bay and Sydney to the South. Studying in Brisbane gives students an excellent opportunity to see much of our fantastic country!

Money and Budgeting
A low cost of living and friendly sense of diversity is what renders Queensland to be exemplary in comparison to other Australian states. In 2019, Australian Education International estimated the average International Student studying abroad in Australia to spend an approximate figure of $380 on accommodation, amenities, entertainment, transport and telephone/internet weekly. Although this figure is an estimate, subject to change depending on factors such as location, lifestyle and your choice of course.

Within Brisbane, TransLink provides a varied network of travel and transport journeys, as well as alleys and walkways that constitute Brisbane's compact and foot-friendly nature. TransLink provides students with the flexibility to travel on train, bus and ferry services using just the one card. Travel Cards, referred to as 'Go cards' may be purchased from Queensland Rail stations and selected ticketing agents.
